Post Frame Construction

While watching a Mr Post Frame video $57 Per Square Foot Barndominum Cost Breakdown | Mad County , I noticed he is partnered with Florence, Montana based Back Forty Building Co who is a architecture firm that specializes in Barndominium design and plans. New Construction of the week!

Another behemoth apartment build, I snapped a pic after a Kenyon errand and thought it would be convenient to have a project right across from the hardware store! The Beaumont is income-restricted for households at or below 60% AMI. Units are available here starting Mid May and are actually somewhat affordable advertising 3 bed 2 bath apartments at $1,729.

The Copper

The Copper is a Luxury apartment rental, these units become available May 1st. Seems like there is a bunch of new units hitting the market Spring 2025 as these aren’t the only two apartment projects coming to completion within this timeframe.

April 12, 2025 Opening More U.S. Logging May Not Save Wyoming’s Last Two Large Lumber Mills. While Wyoming once had so many lumber mills that the industry was its third largest sector, today it’s down to only two large commercial mills. One in Saratoga called Saratoga Forest Management, and the one Neiman owns, called Neiman Enterprises. In 1983, Wyoming had 34 operating mills, but by 2005 that had dwindled to just 21. Now there are only two large ones left, though there are perhaps 10 smaller mills handling things like the pallet industry. Wyoming milled as much as 80 million board feet of lumber once upon a time. But last year, in 2024, it milled just 10 million board feet, according to USDA figures. (Cowboy State Daily)

April 13, 2025 Wyoming’s Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute is partnering with private companies to give aging oil fields a new lease on life. The technology is allowing millions more barrels of oil to be squeezed out of existing wells. It’s a testament to the power of enhanced oil recovery (EOR), a set of techniques in which latent reserves are pressured to the surface using CO2 and other cocktail injections, expanding the lifespan of legacy fields. In the last 20 years, EOR has resulted in an additional 67 million barrels and $558 million state tax revenue in Wyoming, according to analysis from the State Budget Office. (EORI Wyoming)

History

Karst Stage was founded in 1902 by Pete Karst. In 1898, Karst passed through Montana on his way from Wisconsin to the West Coast. At Lewiston, Idaho, he turned around and came back to Bozeman. In 1902, Karst was driving freight and loggers from Bozeman to the Cooper Tie Camp which Walter Cooper had just opened on the Taylor Fork. The job required many horses, wagons, and drivers and, with the encouragement of Cooper, Karst acquired a loan from the bank to buy the necessary equipment to conduct the freight operation.

In 1908, Karst built the Karst Stage Stop Inn approximately 35 miles south of Bozeman in the Gallatin Canyon. Although this was the first “dude ranch” in the canyon, many more similar operations opened quickly after Karst. Karst transported passengers, mail, and freight from Bozeman and the surrounding area to his ranch and the many others in the area. He also began operating tours into Yellowstone National Park. The company became known as Karst Stage and the name has been retained to this day. (Karst Stage)

Signing out, see you next Monday,
